Net2 is a networked access control system. A networked system gives the advantages of central control, event reporting and flexible control over users' access. Each control unit is part of a network
but can run independently making its own decisions and remembering events.
The control unit has FLASH memory which means that firmware can be upgraded from the PC. This is the key to making the system future proof.
Control units are sold as a PCB
only, within a plastic housing or mounted within a 2A boxed metal/plastic mains monitored backup power supply.
There is a label on the Net2 control unit that clearly shows connections for reader, lock, power supply etc. The unit has a voltage free relay output and so can switch any lock or electrical device. Exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches and alarm devices may be connected.
Control units connect together in a 'daisy chain' dataline to form a network
(see illustration below). At any point along the dataline the server
PC connects to the network
via a communications converter or across a LAN
/WAN
using the Ethernet
interface.
There are diagnostic LED's to assist with trouble free installation.
Any changes made at the PC are immediately communicated and stored at the control unit. When a user presents their token to the reader, the control unit identifies them and permits or denies access as appropriate.
